I have noticed many ppl ask how to use usenet so i decided to make this quick little tutorial..incl. pix
to use this i assume you have already downloaded GrabIT or someother client . You dont have to pay for good servers to get the files you want .In this demo i'm using my ISP's news server but i recommend that you pay for one
PART 1 -BASICS

okay 1st steps start it up and goto the server list
I already have a server set up but that doesnt matter right now
Secondly , goto add a server with your details..its a bit like IRC
Save the settings and Refresh that server's list. BTW YOU CAN HAVE MORE THAN 1 SERVER IN THE LIST
NOW that you have gotten the list refreshed and everyhting is ready to begin . Lets go through the UI of GrabIT
I am lucky as my ISP allows usenet access and always has the latest files updated
I have blurred my ISP for privacy..pls respect that
When you do an ordinary search , you cant search for filenames yet only groups ..
Always look through groups that have binary in the name as it means they have either software or movies .Dont get your hopes up yet as most of the time its just crap requests .
Now go for a search :
I have found mutiple groups that look interesting . To view the contents of the group and upload stuff , subscribe to it
Enter it
Now this is pretty crap with all the requests
so we go for a grabit search
and we find all these files..watch out..these are mutiple parts. and you must find a copy with all parts (non missing)
Now download this test file
and go to the Batch Tab..It took forever to connect. then i realised i hadnt refreshed everything and the file was deleted
